I found some marvelous old chairs in Anthropologie that I wanted to share with you. The store has a fantastic way of mixing vintage and new pieces together. These were brought in from a company called Swarm that works with the retailer. Swarm is actually run by the former Visual Director of Anthropologie, Leslie Oschmann. She takes old pieces that she purchases from antique dealers in Holland, France and Belgium and turns them into stunning 'reclaimed designs'. Her studio is located in Amsterdam. The chairs featured here originated in Belgium around 1960. I find it really inspiring that she saw something beautiful in such ordinary, utilitarian seats and decided to elevate them through her medium-in this case, oil painting.
They are lovely and functional, as you can see:
The price is fair, factoring in the antique, the art and the import fees:
These are so cool and creative, and no one would ever have the same chairs as you!
